The words 'living' is an umbrella, which over shadows the 3 major aspects of the residence, work environment and recreational spaces, in this project, the main focus goes on conceptualizing the interweaving of formal spaces in an informal manner, to revive the sense of community by exhibiting the life within the architecture, rather than creating 'black boxes' within a society,by looking the urban design in social context .
Bazaar is not just a mere tangible existence of a market place but it exist as an idea, a notion of diversity coming together to form a whole set of tangible and intangible essence of life in its own. Reflecting my concept of bazaar as an intangible form of conceived and perceived ideas of life and the essence of the tangible existence which signifies the existence of certain entities as an idea of displacement and concentration of the social norms of a certain spatial existence aiding to form a whole set of life.
Bazaar is a diverse term which over shadows various aspects of place making, communal space, ownership, sense of association and other social aspects of a society. Ever since the start bazaar has been more of expression of a community, a whole set of life, their norms and their beliefs.
It is a place where everyone comes together to form a single entity as whole. The difference between the bazaar and malls signifies the importance of the formal and informal settlement with in the bazaar as well as nomadic norms of vendors. I see this project as a mark of their existence and to exist as an adaptable, multi-use able building with the condensation of essence of existence of a certain social entity, extracted and intensified essence of a dense abstract of social practices.
The tangible form of my idea for a vertical bazaar revolves around the depiction of the inner life, the essence of the bazaar as the form of the building, rather than giving a facade to form to the building I want to give the life of the bazaar as the form or facade of the building, giving a raw structure having both permanent and temporary nature to it for the people, to develop their places on their own, to have that sense of association to the structure in which they exist in as well as feeling of an owner ship.
