Project idea

Hotel is located on a steep slope, on which increases beech and hornbeam forest. The reason for choosing this type of architecture, in addition to its environmental and energy efficiency, was the availability of a steep terrain, unsuitable for traditional architecture, the beauty of the terrain and the good recreational properties of the environment. It is designed for young people who prefer non-traditional communication with nature.

Project description

All administrative, technical, industrial and public spaces are located in three levels and are deep into the slope. The building is subject to relief and repeats its contour. This is done to maximize the simplification of construction, insolation and the least harm to nature. The overlay of the lower level serves as a terrace for the next. All rooms have access to open galleries.
The means of vertical communication are represented by elevators that pass from the first level through the entire building and go upstairs beyond the last level, which combines all of these areas with residential and makes the movement between levels accessible to low-mobility people. There are also paths and stairs between levels.
The living area is represented by rooms-capsules, which are fastened by metal ropes on the trees. Beech is a solid breed of wood and has the necessary bearing properties. Access to the capsule numbers is designed on a wooden staircase, fixed on the ropes and can be removed inside the capsule. If necessary, due to the ease of design and ease of attachment, the module can be lowered to almost the ground level, and, with the arrangement of the ramp, can become accessible to a low-mobility person. Due to the mobility and autonomy of the rooms, it can move from one place to another or clean at all.

Technical information

The underground part of the building is designed from monolithic reinforced concrete. Each next level is partly based on the previous one, and partly relies on the ground. It is proposed to lay a series of drainage ditches with gravel filling. At the bottom of such trenches is a pipeline for drainage of rain and groundwater into filtration plants, followed by use in technical needs. It is also proposed to install pumps and filters for groundwater and the installation of sewage treatment and disinfection. Total area of underground premises - 3370.8 m2.
The frame of the capsule-rooms made of glued wood. The inner and outer membranes of the tent fabric are stretched on it. Between the rails - a layer of insulation. Window and doors are made of transparent film. Capsule-rooms are capable of supplying themselves with electricity through solar panels. At the bottom of the capsule has been designed a water tank with filters. Water should be enough for two days for two people. Area of room is 14 m2.
