Project idea

The classical cunucu houses on Aruba have a certain architectural style. Todays society wants a more modern look while respecting the old architecture. GRP Architects tries to achieve this by making a fresh modern building with the old cunucu style architecture in the back of the mind.

Project description

The building itself is made out of Structural Insulated Panels, short SIPs. Making the building a big cooling box. The building is situated in an area with a lot of vegetation such as palm trees, cactus, aloe vera and much more. The grey and white color compliment each other by creating a contrast, also the use of wood gives the building more character and a warm welcomming feeling.

Technical information

Interesting facts about the building are:
- The use of SIPs for a well maintained interior temperature
- The use of sustainable 'bankirai' wood
- Solar panels for your own energy supply with a high efficiency.
- Keeping the building cool by vegetation, overhangs and shutters.
