Project idea

Our main idea was to link the future of energy in the form of the past and tradition. The theme of the proposal was living near world EXPO 2017 in Astana and adapting new hotels to the residential living. People in the past used the potential of mountains as a shelter against adverse conditions. Caves create a sense of security and home. With this theme is linked to the legend of the three sisters in the national park "BORABAI" which became our inspiration. The existence of humans in nature adversely affecting the climate. Nature is often coped with it alone. The second legend of the lake "Borovoy" which you around a thick wall of trees. The level is so quiet in any weather. Nature gives us a possibility of renewable energy sources. Our priority was to eliminate and minimize its CO2 production. Using forest terrace, solar panels with algae, low gray energy and low energy intensity.

Project description

Creation of the lake addresses the issue of which create a residential hills. They will also include the rubble of expat, that it is transported off site does not generate CO2. Our concept of residential hills used as energy: wind, sun, earth energy of mass. The ambitious concept of EXPO him forcing us to react. We realized this at two levels. In the horizontal plane, we reiterated its plan shape and a central mass increase. In the vertical gradation to the EXPO: smallest, medium and largest sister. Our proposal, we managed to connect existing innovative solutions to the traditional patterns of living in the mountains.

Technical information

Habitat is designed from reinforced concrete boxes, placed in modules. They create a terrace on the south side with green flat roofs. Habitat originated by the insertion of modules into the hill, which originated from the excavation of EXPO. On the north side of the hill is designed a forest serving the public. Through the hill leads a shaft with the active component of the wind and at the end of the tunnel it transforms it into electricity thanks to a wind power plant. The soiled soil is diluted with a lightweight material that does not burden the load-bearing structure of the garage. In detail, you can see the use of flower pots with extensive greenery. The technology placed in the building draws energy from nature, which makes it a symbiosis with it. Buildings are designed in a passive standard.
