The idea is to transform the feeling and provide the impression of having a light and ecologically clear building.

Project description

The project presents a school situated in the city of Mombasa, Kenya. The building at once attracts attention due to its unique external view and the provided solutions. The idea is to transform the feeling and provide the impression of having a light and ecologically clear building. Colors are used in shaping the general view of the school in order to make it look more pleasant. The zigzag forms coming out of the ground surface are considered to be the base of the project. The mentioned forms are directed up symbolizing the learning process as a movement, reaching heights. The buildings are situated next to one another for the purpose of making warm and shadow recreational spaces. Building materials typical to the place are mainly used, such as wood, rammed earth, brick. The façade is totally covered with vertical wood and due to the gaps between, natural ventilation and lighting is performed. As the building is situated in a rainy area, it is build a bit higher, 1.20m above the ground. For the same reason the covered play area meant for children is on the third floor. The area between the buildings can be used for different kinds of events and courses. The main concept of the project is to make a building that mostly corresponds to its surroundings with it style. The overall view of the building provides all the details needed for the main concept.
