The severe and laconic outline of the building, the large heavy roof – it all creates enormity, static impression. At the same time, the huge stained glass windows do not prevent a view from penetrating to the interior space, revealing the building structures which are the main aesthetic value. Specially highlighted structure shows the inner beauty of the building.
The owners of future house, family with kids, have given difficult task for studio Chado. We had to place a lot of functional zones in small area: not only house with private boiler room and full value spa, and open-air pool with terrace, garden, billiard room, and the recreation area in the yard. “The biggest difficulty in projection was planning. The functional beauty has been achieved by enormous efforts”- remember Evgeniy Zadorozhniy and Oleg Pigulevskiy . One of the most important decisions was to use the area vertically. The corridor, which connected the living space of the house with spa-zone, was used as extra terrace. Moreover, we arranged the flowerbed with gravel and stone path area on sunshade situated over the parking. We used different zone levels for the internal part of country house too. For example, the lobby has low ceiling but if we go straight to the living room and kitchen-dining room the ceiling will get taller and taller.
Architecture
The architectural concept of the house was built with using interesting contrast: the severe contours, heavy monumental roof seem like pressing building to the ground, and partly-naked “skeleton” – opened beams, and huge stained windows give the lightness and even airiness. “This intentionally parading of structure shows the internal beauty of the building” – Evgeniy Zadorozhniy comments the decision to leave open beams. The outdoor bridle system is the main detail in the whole area of the second floor, because it demonstrates exterior transit to interior. We wanted to illustrate that architecture can be beautiful by itself, without any covers. The house walls are reveted by hand molding bricks and wood, which were made by local artisans. The area near the pool was lined with terraced decking, which combined with wooden fragments of fronts finishes. All these features guarantee perfect combination between building and yard.
Interior
“The clients initially had wanted something like chalet. But during our meetings and discussions we understood the concept of interior”- says Oleg Pigulevskiy. Ultimately, we have the mix between chalet and cosy, and functional apartment in modern style, which includes heavy surfaces, rough textures, old burst wood. Furthermore, there is a place for modern approach of area and light distribution. We designed the smooth transition from architecture to interior on the level of interior finish: the internal walls, which were trimmed with dark brick mixed with wood, visually connected with house front. The surface connection is viewed not only between external and internal, but also between two functional rooms – the same materials in the different interpretation “gather” the space in integration. Though, the dining-room was mostly trimmed with Mirage porcelain stoneware, the different color of the same collection but was used in bathroom. When we were choosing furniture, the designers harshly combined the various styles:from classic and fusion to modern style and even kitsch.
