For the last decades not a single large art museum has been built in Minsk. In my project, I wanted to create an object that could become a center of culture and one of the symbols (or landmarks) of the city.
The basis of the image was the synthesis of the Russian avant-garde architecture and modern architecture. The main part of the complex is built on the basis of elementary geometric figures-signs, in which the echoes of the suprematist compositions of Malevich, Chashnik, and Lisitsky are read.
The project provides for the solution of conflict situations in the existing building as well as for the preservation of the place's spirit.
The complex includes: museum of architecture and design, students gallery, library, workshops (rental and non-rental), academic building of the architectural faculty, student hostel, sports grounds, sculpture park, hotel, apartment building, art store and catering facilities.
The project made maximum use of the elevations of the relief. Re-planning of the relief was carried out and through the installation of supporting walls pedestrian flows were redirected, the interests of public and residential areas were divided, underground parking was made.
Also, systems of external and internal spaces (courtyards) were created to organize communication between different users of the complex.
The height of the complex's facilities does not affect the panorama of the city, the architectural solution of the complex does not violate the harmony of the existing ensemble.
