Project idea

Building like Trees, Cities like Forests

Project description

What if buildings were alive? What if our homes and workplaces were like trees, living organisms participating productively in their surroundings? Imagine a building, enmeshed in the landscape, which harvests the energy of the sun, sequesters carbon and makes oxygen. Imagine on-site wetlands and botanical gardens recovering nutrients from circulating water. Fresh air, flowering plants, and daylight everywhere. Beauty and comfort for every inhabitant. A roof covered in soil and sedum to absorb the falling rain. Birds nesting and feeding in the building’s verdant footprint. In short, a life-support system in harmony with energy flows, human souls, and other living things. Hardly a machine at all.

Technical information

Green Applications:
My Concept “Buildings like Trees, Cities Like Forests” explains the basic idea behind the design of this High rise building. Why don’t we treat building like living organisms? Just like trees, participating productively in their surroundings. Building enmeshed in the landscape, which harvests the energy of the sun, sequesters carbon and makes oxygen. Landscape around the building is wetlands and botanical garden recovering nutrients from circulating water. Fresh air, flowering plants, and daylight everywhere. Beauty and comfort for every inhabitant. Its roof covered in soil and sedum to absorb the falling rain. Birds nesting and feeding in the building’s verdant footprint. In short, a life-support system in harmony with energy flows, human souls, and other living things. Hardly a machine at all.
All this is possible when we adapt “The Whole Building Design Approach” The whole building design approach encourages integration and optimization among all building measures. It is important to note that many green building programs also help adopt this balance by requiring mandatory attention to all principles, not just one area.
This building entails the following Green Strategies:
Form and Function:
The form of the building is organic and functional. Different terraces in curvy form will help to control solar intake. And will provide the habitants a horizontal living feeling.

Solar Power:
Solar energy is the cheapest source of energy with very low maintenance apparatus. Solar energy can be used in many ways like solar panels, solar windows, solar water heating systems etc.
Water = Water:
Water equals water means the balanced use of water and make sure to reuse the every single drop of water to overcome the upcoming water crisis. Water can be retained by Rain water harvesting, Grey water reuse and excessive water giving back to ground by dry wells.
Waste = Food:
As a self-sustained building the amount of resources being used in the building will be equals to the resources building will produced. So it can deal with present energy crises in our country.
Natural Heating and Cooling:
Natural heating and cooling in the building by using geo thermal plants and solar heating units. So the maximum amount of energy can be saved.

Green Terraces:
Will provide the ground like feeling and create the buffer between polluted air and fresh air produced by these and plants in terrace. It will reduce noise, maintain the building temperature, and convert CO2 (carbon di oxide) into O2 (oxygen). Capture small dust particles and protection against thunder storms and heat waves. These Green Facades filters the air and clean habitat.

Green Roofs:
Roof gains maximum amount of heat in summers, green roof will stop the heat gain and provides low temperature. Another great benefit of green roof is that it collects maximum amount of rain water. Which can be used in different purposes.
Vegetation Gardens:
Self-sustained vegetation garden which will benefit the residents and
Indoor air quality:
Interior materials are also green materials so the people living in this building can breathe fresh air rather than CFC, poly vinyl, lead, pesticides etc.
