Embracing Sustainability- a move towards urban habitat

Project idea

The project entitles as embracing sustainability, which is leading towards the future environments that will revive the behavior of living in the buildings. There is a relationship among the building blocks with the sustainable facilities like underground parking, extensive open ground spaces, green spaces and squares, and other important public constructions, which facilitates not only the users but also intensifies the sustainability of the environment with its characters. The housing blocks are planned as dynamic elements where the typologies are mixed with designated functions and adjusted to give an absolute diversity within the same building. The idea was to incorporate some important traits like along with addressing the social, luxurious, and ecological aspects.

Project description

We approached the ideas by creating zig-zag and staggering of the housing blocks, which helped in creating a visual axis towards the pool and green areas. There is also a relationship among the house blocks which aids in creating a friendly neighborhood. Various important details like storm-water management, greywater filtration, bio-swale process, underground service lines, etc. hold especially sustainable features which add the values towards the embracing sustainability. Community facilities like a shopping mall, multi-purpose hall, school, religious functions, coding garbage system, park, playground, library, community hall, amphitheater, etc. The expansion of the design rise from the site and user’s requirements gradually ended with the added qualities which made it a sustainable habituate. Besides, the zig-zag configurations help to solve distinct facade problems, which arise due to functions and orientations.

Technical information

We carried out the project in such that few apartment blocks create a common courtyard which not only keeps privacy but also helps to create a breathing space. The 45-degree orientation helps in creating natural shading devices and natural lighting, which helps in smooth flow in wind direction. The building is material is fair-faced concrete with certain glass and metal details. It connects each building with the pool for completing the rainwater harvesting process. Green spaces are treated carefully according to the necessities.
