Project idea

We spend much of our life in motion and in action. It is however,
when we rest and repose, that we communicate and socialize with
each other at ease.
Hence, if the act of sitting is special, so should be the place, manner
and posture of sitting. And if ‘action’ is followed by ‘rest’ and again
by ‘action’, we could ask the question: can the place, manner and
posture of sitting influence the next ‘action’? Can the furniture speak
personally about the place and to the people there?

Project description

The intention of this Vertical Studio is to design a public seating/
seating arrangement specifically for the (or some of the1

of the Departments of Architecture & Art and Design.

• The seating shall accommodate a minimum of three (3) people at
one time.
• Furthermore, the seating shall allow for one additional activity/
function, different from ‘sitting’.
