Project idea

"Upon arrival at the nest, he finds himself sheltered between the natural green and the emerging green, connecting the stranger with the habitat." Johana Mendoza
Knowledge, like the jungle, is an ecosystem of interrelationships that are configured in the form of a network. The jungle is composed of different plant layers such as: the ground, undergrowth, canopy, emerging layer and refuge, all of them are connected and function as one. The project seeks the idea of a nest as a refuge that is in constant connection with nature.

Project description

The layers of the jungle surround the project, where everything is a cycle, which works only if it is related and fully involved with the environment.
The development of the architectural project is proposed within the Huaorani community located in the Amazon region of Ecuador, as a means of relationship between the inhabitants of the sector and tourists, taking into account the construction and material systems of the place.
A space for the sale of handicrafts is proposed, a place for the production of handicrafts, rest areas with hammocks, space for eating and cleaning. All the proposed activities are completely open for tourists to have a complete sensory and physical experience.

Technical information

The design of the modules in section is as important as in plan, it arises from the analysis of the archetype of the Amazon house. The use of wood for the skeleton of the project allows the development of a replicable design system.
FOUNDATION:
From the structural calculation two types of plinths are defined, for the perimeters and the central ones. The plinths are raised 60 cm from the floor to prevent flooding due to rain
PERIMETER COLUMNS:
curved laminated wood is implemented to form the structural nest
JOINTS:
They are made up of two boards of chonta wood, local material, joined by boards of 30 x 30 cm
COVER:
Palm leaf is used, which is a traditional material used in roofs of traditional Amazonian architecture. For its placement, the material is interwoven until obtaining a kind of loom that covers the entire length of the roof
