Project idea

News is the most effective medium of mass communication. The news that is closest to the people in a democratic state is only for the people. The news is that the friend of the people whether in the vicinity of the country or abroad benefit by providing information on everything. People walking without news means being immersed in darkness. It can be called the source of light of society. This is why Rolf Dobblli says "News is to the mind what sugar is to the body."
So let's make a platform of the thing that is so closely associated with people where people and news correspondence will be celebrated, people will be able to get acquainted with every part of the news in more detail. Which is not just a museum whose every wall will talk about the past, present, future. Which is the news museum, museum for people, where people and museum complement each other.

Why do we need a news museum?

Democracy is a system governed entirely by the people where the people have the freedom to speak the right to know the right information or for the people to think freely.
According to Katharine Graham- "Democracy depends on information circulating freely in society."

Then it can be said how important free press is for a democratic nation. Since news is for the people to tell the truth to the people. But in this 21 century, the news is not always what is seen it has to go deeper for reviling the truth. The problem that is appearing in the current era is the Confirmation biases. To get rid of this we have to enter the center or core of information then we can judge.
So News Museum we need which will act as an information center. The importance of the news museum in protecting democracy is immense.
We see, hear, or read the news and in the news museum, we can realize the moment of that news with our own conscience.
The goal of a news museum is not just to know the truth but to make people more informative more informed so that they have the courage to think independently

Why this site?

The project is proposed by the Ministry of information, Bangladesh. This site is also suitable for some reason. The site is in the capital city of Dhaka it is the center of Bangladesh. And the location of the site is in Agargaon closer to the National Parliament House designed by Louis Kahn which is called Shangshad Vauban is also the sign of democracy of our independent country and some other important Govt buildings and museums are also there such as Film Archive, Science museum, Liberation museum, Bangladesh better, etc.

Project description

Spreading the news is like a spider web, so the building mass is spread around a center. Centrally there is a public plaza that represents a sign of interaction. Since people are the main force, building mass has been kept down, form domination has been reduced. The mass has been placed in such a way that a welcoming plaza is created by merging with the surrounding walking access, view, contextual connection. Some public stages have been created for public free thought, free speech also public conferences for discussing public affairs. Some parts of the are above and most of the side is below the ground which represents that people have to go deep into every news and explore.
The center plaza represents three more lighted circles that represent every news have centers within the center. The permanent gallery will digitally connect with the flow of news. The circle shapes come through various means which are universal shape circle has been brought to the people.

Technical information

The project is proposed on Agargaon, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka.
Site Area- 5 acres.
Project floors- Ground floor, First floor+1 Basement permanent gallery, and parking.
There are three blocks above the ground connected by a circular plaza.
The main entrance block of the museum has a cafeteria on the first floor.
The second block I auditorium which facing to the science museum. And the third block is for the administration zone on the ground floor and on the first floor, there is a library.
On whole, the project remains open to the landscape and surroundings.
The green trees and landscapes are more attaching their for that people can come to enjoy the green and shade. And also that people can gather and share their thoughts under the shades of trees.
The forms have an Articulated programmatic relationship.
The whole structure of the project is a flat slap and reinforced concrete structure. Eighteen-inch thick shear walls transfer the load to the ground from the slab.
All the programs define public forum.
In the outside of the project remain open for free public access.
In the internal, there are spaces with a high concentration of people for which air treatment is proposed by air conditioning. Direct window ventilation cannot be used in the permanent gallery. Fresh air is forced through the HVAC piping.
There is a service corridor around the full permanent gallery ensuring all the facility of service. The air treatment is carried out in the technical rooms in the air handling units located near the halls.
A decentralized air handling system is used which makes it possible to modify the indoor air of individual rooms according to their own operational requirements.
