Located to the south of Bohai Bay, Daliuhang Village is one of the best grape planting bases of Changyu group. The aim of this project is to transform an old administration house into a new node in the vineyard for both visitors and administrators.
The old one is a typical local house with three layers yard and threre volumes, which are for different functions and give people different kinds of feeling. I decide to maintian this experience when people walk through these yards and the two long walls which make the three volumes a whole. By lifting the volumes for adiministrators up, the space in the ground floor is freed which creates a sequence of space for visitors. In addition, the sequence refers to different process in the production of the wine. The end of the sequence is dramatically enlarged as a tasting room facing the hill, where the spectacular landscape is unfold after walking through several relatively closed spaces.
New steel structure of the volumes is supported by new steel pillars embedded into the old walls. The coverage of the old walls is stripped to unfold their original texture, which fits the atmosphere of a wine house. New walls and are built with the same kind of brick in order to be harmony.
