Everyday with Nature

Project idea

The speedy hike in urbanization has made humans grow apart from nature. But can we really blame them when all they see are the four walls of their home; the building blocks out of their windows; and the flickering screen at work?
The idea that fueled this project is to create a home that frames natural elements of earth, water and air and programs it into the everyday life such that nature by default is in the unconscious mind leading to re-attachment of humans with nature.

Project description

The idea to frame nature led to organic form of circles. Thus taking the square for a frame and inscribing the circle inside allowed the central space to be the living core surrounded by the elements of nature.
The scope of this project is more adaptable in varied climate zones than other residences due to the vegetal space around the core that acts as a natural buffer moderating the temperature.

Technical information

The materials used for the project are - prefabricated concrete blocks for the support structure and walls, wood veneer for floor, rough glass for glazing and skylight and wood for the glazing frames.
The vegetation is layered with vapor control, waterproof/root repellent, drainage and then the growing medium. The drainage runs through the concrete branches before it reaches the stormwater ducts.
