The driveway to the plot is from the south where is the main enterance. Amphitheater which is the largest structure on the plot, has an irregular shape and is set on an artificial hill in the north of the plot. The artificiall hill occupies a large part of the plot and that is why I chose to set the buildings in it. Main idea was to save space and greenness in the area. Main path leads from the main enterance in the south to the amphitheater. From the main path we can get to the all other buildings. The main enterance is left on its original place together with a parking place. From the back (north?) is enterance for trucks and from the side (west or east?) is enterence for bistro suppliers. At the main enterance are three seperate buildings connected with a roof. These buildings serve as ticket office, informations office, public toilets and offices. Accommondation is for 16 employees. Each room is for two employees. Opposite the a accommondation building is original gazebo. The gazebo is used as a dinning room and as a concert venue for artists or as a place for workshops, dancing, etc. Building behind the gezbo serve as bistro background with public toilets. In the slope of the amphitheater are three Labo buildings. In each of these bulding are classrooms used for various activities such as dancing, music, acting or circus. The circus classroom is in the middle building and is over two floors to preserve space for acrobatics training. There are also public toilets for amphitheater visitors in the middle building. In the side buildings are also rooms for video editing, record studio, photo studio, archives and meeting room. Next to the original amphitheater is the newly designed work zone with facilities for artists and service of the theatre. In the right part is a make up rooms and changing rooms for artist include sanitary facilities. The left part is dedicated to the repair shop, sewing workshop and garages. In the middle part is a room for storing props, curtains and other theater equipment. Stage is enlarged to size 15x18 meters. Stage is located 400 milimeters above the surrounding terrain. Between the amphitheater and bistro is place for stands and meeting space.
The design comprises a total of seven objects, which are divided into different zones. In designing the building, I tried to preserve African culture and design the buildings from natural materials available around the compound but I also tried to emphasize the functionality of the structures. Next, I tried to adapt the structures to the local climate by aerating the spaces while designing a thatched roof structure to keep the buildings from overheating. I have placed smaller buildings under one roof structure. I have placed smaller buildings under one roof structure so that people can move predominantly in shaded parts of the site. In the design, I give way to existing greenery through both roads, buildings and shrubs that create shade and collness in the area. The building at the entrance bordersthe property. The newly created bistro is on the original site of the gazebo with a dinning room and accomodation is located opposite it for good accessibility but also peace of mind for those staying. Three other buldings are set in the original artificially constructed hill. The intention of the planting was to save space and to be able to preserve the original greenery in the area. The work zone is located on the original location of the theatre´s background but slightly pushed to the boundary of the property due to the enlarged stage. The work building is symmetrical one part of the building for background, the other part for dirty traffic. The centre of the building is elevated to store curtains and theatre facilities.
The designs of each building are made of bricks full of burnt 290/140/65, the perimeter masonry is 300mm thick, non-wearable rungs 150mm thick. The surface of the perimeter structure is made of oversized masonry. The roof structure is made up of a flat roof above which is the second roof structure. This structure is made up of surround structure on 100mm diameter columns and thatching. The second roof structure only serves for shielding, so that building does not overheat. I chose thisch because of the good availability and low cost of this material. The thatched roof was also on the gazebo which I decided to preserve. The windows of the bulidings have a metal frame and are filled mostly with wooden blinds, the door frame is also metal and the wing is wooden, in the same shade as the wooden blinds.
