Project idea

Our design is also located in Izmir/ Turkey and to rebuilt the history of electricity based on the factory, which is currently unused.
Since the environment of this factory, which has a significant history, is desolate and uncanny, we have made it an interesting place by creating public interaction spaces that will revive the factory and its surroundings with this work we have created.

Project description

Our desıgn has recreatıonal places to revive around the electric factory for rebuild Project.South of the factory contains lots of unemployed buildings.Removed theese buildings for avoid to solitude.we created new square because people needs public spaces there.The factory will be exposed by removing the borders on the North while being concealed by the building on the South with structure designed to reflect their former states.
An industry routeing created by using industrial heritage constructions around the factory such as Havagazı, Şark factory.
“Living Izmir” feature taken into account to turn Electric Factory into “Living Factory”, public place containing the factory and it’s environment. Bicycle is used as public instrument connecting people with contuniation of bicycle flow on Izmir Kordon.Circulation is created by integrating bicycle flow to structure and factory.
Programatic places such as different view points, exhibition spaces and cafes are designed targeting factory to interact with other industrial constructions, to stand out and to be functional for industrial flow.
industry museum is designed to make the west side restful while performance space where not only Professional cyclists can use also amateur cyclist can observe and experiment is designed to make the east side lively.

Technical information

Steel structures located in the south of the historical Electric Factory were created by means of 5×5m modulars.Gridal modules are attached to steel carriers with bolts.Steel carriers are strengthened with the steel truss system placed between the carriers.Steel slabs are placed as a flooring inside the steel beams.
The structure is bolted to the ground by singular foundations.
The brackets on the viewing terraces formed at the viewpoints are supported with cross steel carriers.
By using the surface tear existing on the historical factory facade, the contact points were created from these areas to the factory and a transition was made.
