Project idea

The proposed project Museum Design is set in the urban context of J.P Nagar in Bangalore to cater to the collective identity of Bengaluru while addressing the neighbourhood’s needs and aspirations, thereby creating a place relevant to all age groups in the urban context of this Indian City.

Project description

The museum while catering to the identity and aspirations of the city of Bengaluru, will also accommodate the need of the neighborhood. The proposed design will explore the design possibilities of placemaking as an architectural goal within a space.

The expression of the link between built and unbuilt spaces in a given context is critical here. It is important to understand the connection of the built form to the surrounding landscape (both natural and manmade features) and the use of the unbuilt spaces within the neighborhood context in response to the climate, local culture, and pattern.

The museum will engage visitors and local audiences with talks, exhibitions, and other events in addition to being a source of information about the city showcasing all aspects of Bengaluru like its history, culture, art, technology, textile, culinary traditions, etc. The museum will also be inclusive and user friendly for the elderly and physically handicapped. It will attract scholars and people specialized in various fields of the program, thereby creating an environment that engages with the neighborhood community while extending to reach out to the whole city.
