This project represents a place that should represent the season - spring. It is a space that can bring activity and function in the park in Amsterdam.
I don’t see sring in its form, but function. In this case, it is the function of a new beginning and purification. The Spring Pavilion shall provide these values to a man. The purgation of clothes and maybe even yourself by spending time somewhere on an island of an Amsterdam’s park in the light of white fabrics . The light that the visitors can reform by themselves. The hanging fabrics present the chance of isolation, but also open space. An opportunity to immure and wait until your clothes are washed in loneliness. The visitors can borrow the fabrics and use for recreational purposes. By using the fabrics, they gets dirty and need to be washed. After some time, i tis necessary to clean the whole pavilion. The Spring Pavilion means searching to me. Let people find relax, peace, clean fabrics and beginning in it. It’s not just an object. It hides in itself a potential of a community laundry. There is a need to wait in the laundry. And always, when a man is waiting, he is bored. He starts to notice the things, that he has been missing so far. Who knows. Maybe he will start noticing life around him, the seasons, their light and smell,.... Maybe he will start feeling spring.
I tried to make the construction solution as simple as possible. It consists of steel columns placed in grid. There are four welded brackets on each column that create a cross. Steel ropes are fastened to these crosses. After hanging the fabrics, this hanging system allows the corners of space to not perceive the structure. Fabrics are not visually occupied by construction.
