Project idea

The concept of the design:

Beverly’s Nail Spa is the first nail studio is Kurdistan and is a place where women, and only women, gather to take care of their nails, and from there the concept was inspired. The design concept of Beverly’s Nail Spa interior was inspired by the main traits of the shop.

As it is a place only for women, and as the shop is in Kurdistan, Erbil, which is a beautiful middle eastern society, the design aimed to provide a space for women where there is a lot of freedom, spaciousness, and above all with minimum cost. We all know how freedom looks like, its the fresh air, the outdoor spaces, and all that, no one would call a caged, closed-spaces, a place for freedom. So to manifest this idea and make it a physical, interior architecture, the design started off with placing outdoor design elements, INDOOR, and encouraging natural light from the all glazed facade of the shop by using semi-transparent curtains every here and there, and all that to deliver a feeling to the female customers that they're outside, gathered, with all the freedom they usually get in the private spaces. That was manifested in the Arch Gate, and the Beauty Doors, that were designed to give a spaciousness feeling to the small space by placing the hairdressing mirrors against a dark-colored wall, to reflect the well-lit space, in order to look like an opening dimension going to a space beyond.

Project description

Then comes along the colors, rather than how spacious and lively they make the small spaces of the shop look like, the colors were basically inspired by the creative nail art that goes down at Beverly’s.
Working on a minimum budget, the majority of the floor tiling and the majority of the current ceiling was left as it is, only some minor changes were added to them.

And also there were two very artistic and iconic elements in the previous design, a swing, and sculpture of a mosaic-art woman figure, it was intended to be left in their original place to sophisticate the luxury of the shop that the customers are familiar with. That formed the Memory Lane.

So the result was a design that delivers the experience and the feeling of the outdoor breeze indoors, providing woman the private area they need and deserve in the city, and at the same time the freedom within the vividly colored spaces that attracts them to come back every time.
