The main idea behind my project was to create an interesting look, yet to fulfill the laws and restrictions in Bulgaria, as the building is in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.
The site, given for the project, is in the heart of Sofia where you can find ancient ruins, different religious monuments, huge officials' buildings (such as the Parliament and the Presidency). So, on your way to home you may find yourself entangled in a beautiful cultural experience. A main objective of the project was to create two semi-detached buildings and to make the space between them somehow habitable and pleasant. Apart from that, the project aims to make it possible for the residents to have closely everything they need, which is why the ground floor has stores. The underground parking gives the possibility of having more greenery and nature on ground, not waste land on parking. The apartments in the project are designed so that they are spacious and cozy. There are two types of apartment combinations: A and B - they differentiate only in the placement of the balconies. One of the main objectives while designing the building was to give the residents the maximum of possible natural light, which would be healthier and more efficient, as well; another was to have as much grass and plants as possible, which is why the glass roof of the passage is cut out, so that trees could be planted underneath it. Also, the roof slabs of the stores, as well as the floor slabs of the studios aim to be covered entirely in grass. The materials used for creating the appearance are of a natural gamma: wood, metal and white stone wall cladding.
There are four panels to this project. Panel I consists of: Site plan, an Apartment in bigger scale, plan of the Underground Floor, plan of the Ground Floor. Panel II consists of: Apartment Type A plan, Apartment Type B and Studios plan. Panel III consists of: Section A-A (Longitudinal), Section B-B (Lateral), Elevation West and Elevation East for both buildings. Panel IV consists of: Elevation South, which features both buildings, as well as the passage between them; Two visualizations of the buildings and two visualizations of a kids' room.
