Iranian art is one of the indicators of the culture of this land. A culture that has the most important legacy of the past, and encompasses their strong ideas, thinking and beliefs. The culture of a society is the capital of that society, which can pave the way for physical, social, environmental, perceptual and other issues. The role of art in influencing the quality and performance of urban spaces is undeniable. Art plays an important role in the integration of culture and identity and makes it possible for them to emerge in the city. The cultural landscape of today's cities must keep itself dynamic and active by establishing the right connection between the city and the people. The city offers social thinking to the community around it. Developing cities face identity crisis. The landscape of present-day Iranian cities has undergone many changes that have made people less connected to the urban environment and removed them from the right relationship with the city and creating belonging; But in the context of these cities, there is a cultural structure that has identity and needs to be used. As a result, paying attention to the cultural identity of urbanism and society is one of the most prominent points that move the city towards a modern paradigm. Nowadays Cultural identity is one of the most important issues in the urban structure. Various factors can shape the identity of a society, one of which is the urban landscape.

The need for a cultural-artistic environment to provide a proper context for the flow of urban landscape can help people and the city, which is the overall goal of the project. Another objective of the project is to provide a socio-cultural attitude to improve the arts and culture in the urban physical structure of Tonekabon. By being present in such a cultural space, the user can touch and present a sense of rich cultural identity. The presence of art in urban spaces makes the urban environment socially functioning and also contributes to its perception (art) by interacting with the surrounding environment, including people. Because of its geography, Tonekabon can provide a good base in this area. Therefore, this city, because of its historical and cultural background and urban background, including the municipal building, Cheshmeh Kile Bridge, telecommunication building, fire department building and ... Ability to create appropriate landscape in the province Mazandaran and the northern region of the country. Understanding cultural identity is one of the requirements and its impact on the city creates a lasting identity as well as enhancing the urban landscape of Tonekabon. It can also keep people in touch with the city with its structure and body in its context. The people underpin the dynamics of the city. They must interact with the cultural identity that the city gives them, and establish a mutual relationship between themselves and the urban landscape.

Project description

Country of Iran and the city of Tonekabon have a rich historical and cultural background. This is the basis for the creation of an artistic-cultural space, to promote culture and art in the community by presenting its cultural identity in a collection. Using Iranian historical paintings (Persian shams) in the project facade makes it an urban icon. And the lights on the facade are as if they are spreading art and culture. There are exhibition hall, cinema, library, educational spaces, photography studio, open air theater. Iranian society has always embraced cultural spaces, and this has led to interaction among the people of the community.

Technical information

Using a rational input that, like an urban carpet, guides the user into the project; Create a place to sit on this urban carpet (Iranian Carpet) at the entrance so that the user sits on the carpet of their home; Using elements such as the Iranian Garden at the final level of the project to bring the user to the highest level, The use of Iranian Carpet motifs in the shell and the selection of stripping and unit volume to unify the design have been ideas and strategies for designing the design. The use of Iranian historical motifs (Iranian Shams) in the project view makes it an urban symbol. And the lights on the skylights look like they are expanding art and culture from within the project to the urban environment. The project has exhibition halls, movie theaters, libraries, educational spaces, photography studios, coffee shops, restaurants, open air hall.
