Project idea

Sea anemone and lifestyle of fishes associated with sea anemone.

Sea anemone and FIshes have a symbiotic relationship which is advantageous for both parties.
We can see a similar relationship between Kandians and the culture they follow, which inspired me to do this design. Here, Fishes are the Kandians while sea anemone which provides for base the fishes to live can be considered as the culture of Kandians.

When projecting this ideology at the designer's perspective, sea anemone stands for the structure of the building.
This design is created using environmentally friendly techniques that helps for building a socially connected residence. This building acts as a living organism due to its timely variations that occur in the structure.

Project description

The main objective of this design is to manifest a housing complex with respect to the culture and social context of the kandians of Sri Lanka.

When observing the behavior of Kandians, it is not hard to identify how they indulge their lives with pride while valuing their culture, Art , Religion showcasing an extraordinary quality. But, however they are so obsessed with their own such aspects, they kind of isolate themselves from other inter-regional people on the island. Ironically, they also have blurred intra-regional connections that have arisen due to casting system and social status diversity among the Kandian society.

Hence, the main objective behind this design is to create stronger inter-relationships among the people of Kandy, by creating a comfortable residence for them to live together, leaving their differences apart. This is achieved by establishing sustainable development Economically, Socially and Environmentally.

In order to increase the level of eco-friendliness, simple raw materials such as H irons and free cast concrete have been used
