Idea projektu

The National Museum and Gallery project is envisioned as a cultural epicenter that preserves, promotes, and celebrates artistic and historical heritage. It serves as a modern platform for creative expression, education, and public engagement while reinforcing the identity of the local community. More than just an exhibition space, the museum is conceived as a dynamic environment for dialogue, research, and artistic experimentation, creating a bridge between tradition and modernity. The architectural solution follows the geometry of the given plot, integrating naturally into the urban fabric while establishing a strong identity. With two main entrances—from Milojka Lešjanina Street and the Serbian Sisters’ Quay—the museum remains accessible and connected to the city’s public life. Its functional organization ensures that visitors experience exhibitions from multiple perspectives, guided by a sculptural staircase that links all levels. The spatial composition plays with mass and transparency, where solid walls are interrupted by glass openings, creating a floating effect reminiscent of Kazimir Malevich’s abstract compositions. More than a building, the museum aspires to be a recognizable cultural landmark, a living center of artistic and historical engagement that inspires future generations and enriches the community.

Popis projektu

The National Museum and Gallery is designed as a multi-level structure with clearly defined functional zones that enhance visitor experience and operational efficiency. The ground floor serves as the main public area, housing the entrance zones, administration offices, educational spaces, and a café-restaurant, providing a welcoming and interactive environment. The semi-level accommodates temporary exhibition spaces and additional gallery setups, offering flexibility for different artistic and cultural events. The first and second floors are dedicated to permanent exhibitions, carefully organized to provide a continuous narrative of historical and artistic significance.
A central staircase and vertical communication cores guide visitors through the space, allowing dynamic interactions with the exhibits. The integration of multipurpose halls ensures that the museum can host lectures, conferences, and workshops, while sanitary facilities and support areas provide necessary infrastructure for both visitors and staff. The design follows a balance between open and enclosed spaces, enabling a harmonious coexistence of exhibition areas, social hubs, and functional zones.
By strategically distributing museum and gallery functions across different levels, the architectural design maximizes accessibility, encourages engagement, and ensures that the facility serves as both a cultural landmark and a contemporary public space.

Technické informace

The National Museum and Gallery project is designed with a focus on creating a striking and functional cultural space. The building's structure is based on a skeletal system, allowing for flexibility and future expansion while maintaining a strong architectural presence. The materials chosen include white panels and a ventilated facade, providing a sleek, modern look while also ensuring the building's durability and energy efficiency. The facade design incorporates these panels along with glass openings, creating a balance between solid mass and transparency. The central hall and galleries are the most illuminated spaces, designed to utilize natural light through strategically placed openings, creating an inviting and open atmosphere. The museum and gallery spaces are equipped with specialized lighting systems, ensuring optimal conditions for displaying artwork and exhibitions. This design approach merges functional and aesthetic aspects of the building, providing both efficient lighting and a visually engaging environment.
