Idea projektu

Domestic Violence Sanctuary is a project that aims to provide a home for
women who have been forced to flee from their homes because of domestic violence. The design has been developed to be a community/ compound with these principles: Safety, privacy, healing, home, and sustainability.
The project is located in Kakindo, a sub-county of Hoima district in the Western part of Uganda.

The project consists of workshops and classrooms to teach skills to the residents, Main Hall to host events and share meals, Infirmary to treat minor injuries and illnesses, Accommodation for the 32 residents on site and vast open areas to foster interaction and farmland to provide the food for the residents whilst also giving them a purpose.

Technické informace

The structure is made of Double brick cavity walls to help regulate the temperature of the rooms of the buildings.
The roofs are constructed with timber skeletons that are elevated to help with cross-ventilation and air circulation in the various buildings.
