Idea projektu

The concept for this project originated from an abstract notion of creating a "green strip" designed to facilitate community building and interpersonal connections. This idea draws inspiration from Rem Koolhaas's master thesis, which conceptualized a city within a city. However, in this project, the city is inverted into a green space. Despite this reversal, the project retains the idea of "voluntary prisoners of architecture," promoting engagement and cohesion within a defined, sustainable environment.

Popis projektu

This urban plan outlines the development of a block in Seestadt, Vienna, Austria. The block will feature various types of residential housing, including individual, twin, and townhouses, with buildings ranging from four to eight stories, and residential towers reaching twelve stories. The ground floors of all buildings will be dedicated to commercial use.

The layout is designed to be almost symmetrical, with a central park dividing the block. This park will feature a pavilion, a farmers market, and open spaces for community activities. Surrounding the park will be a road with designated lanes for cars, bicycles, and pedestrians. Pedestrians will have seamless access to all ground-floor businesses without needing to cross the road.

Technické informace

The buildings are designed to be stepped and modular, allowing for flexible configurations and efficient construction. The market area, featuring a pavilion, will utilize fiberglass as the primary material, similar to the application seen in the Zipper Pavilion by Bjarke Ingels.
