The idea behind this project was to design a medium sized complex incorporating dwellings, short-term lease accommodation and community facilities that are both private and public, catering for multi-generational needs, informed from re-imagining what the site currently offers.
The main goal for this was to provide residents with accommodation that offers safety, comfort and control over their personal space as well as
the available interaction with a community through a co-housing strategy. The project was centred around the needs of young mothers needing to feel more secure at home. The co-housing strategy offers security as a community and privacy when required. Locally, quiet spaces and green spaces are widely encouraged, and existing green space to be maintained.
The construction of the building would utilise a concrete block wall with external masonry to finish, timber joists would support floors with concrete foundations below.
