The pumping station has been designed to meet the multifunctional requirements of a modern pumping station with regard to smooth operation without any obstructions. In addition to refuelling at five fuel stands, or ten filling points including one for trucks, visitors can also use the charging of electric or hybrid vehicles. In addition, he can use the services of a fully automatic car wash, vacuum cleaner, tyre inflation and parking. In the service area there is a shop with a spacious café.
The building is designed as a single-storey building, which is divided into 3 units. The first unit is a part for employees, the other two units are for customers. The shop and the staff facilities are located in the building with a greater clearance. The third unit is the cafeteria, which is connected to the shop area and at first glance is distinguished by a smaller clear height. In the employee zone we can find several warehouses, an office, and the employee facilities themselves, which have a changing room, shower and toilet. The employees have a separate entrance so that the carriages are clearly separated. The employee entrance is also used for the supply of the warehouses and the entire shop. Employees enter the shop from behind the counter area. Only visitors enter through the main entrance directly into the shop or café.
The construction concept is based on the basic operating scheme of the pumping station. The aim was to create a dynamic mass that would attract drivers from a distance.The service building is circular in plan.The café also has the same plan shape. The volumes are recessed into each other, with the café having a smaller overall height. When approaching from the motorway, a glazed semicircular wall attracts the driver inside, so one can quickly see what is happening inside the buildings. On the other hand, when leaving, drivers pass the rear of the buildings, which has not been neglected in any way and is clad in bronze-coloured sheet metal with numerous perforations in the shape of circles, which are illuminated at night and thus complete the atmosphere of the service station. The overall roofing of the petrol stands and the electric vehicle charging station is in the shape of a massive ring. A line runs down the centre of it and the mass has been deformed downwards. The deformation is determined by aesthetics and the functional possibility of rainwater drainage through the supporting columns. The lighting is designed with circular lights, the amount of which depends on the concentration of people and cars. The soffit corresponds to the façade of the service building and is also clad with bronze sheeting.
The main building material of the service building is steel. The 200 mm diameter supporting columns around the perimeter of the building are steel. The 700 x 400 mm spans and the 400 x 400 mm ceiling beams are also made of steel. The load-bearing masonry in the interior is made of 300 mm thick ceramic blocks, while the non-load-bearing walls are made of 150 mm thick blocks. These elements together support the reinforced concrete monolithic roof structure. The perimeter cladding consists of prefabricated Kingspan panels with 200 mm thick mineral wool and structural glazing around part of the perimeter of the shop and café. The building is founded on plain concrete footings. The roofing of the petrol filling stations is based on concrete footings. The supporting columns are also 400 mm diameter steel. The roofing itself is composed of I-profiles, steel beams and trusses welded together. The soffit is complemented by bronze cladding with integrated circular lights.
