The territory considered for the design is located in our city, on Pobedy Street, in a single block, with a mosque next to it, and next to a tobacco factory and distillery. Having analyzed the situation, I believe that this quarter is not currently being effectively used and contains functionally irrational, weed-like, garage-type buildings, and needs better semantic saturation.
The purpose of my work is to create an innovative, cultural and educational complex in this designated territory, combining educational, business, and residential functions in a comfortable environment. By 2030, as part of the presidential program, a network of scientific and educational campuses is planned in Russia. At the moment, there is a shortage of specialists in the field of IT technologies in Russia. Yaroslavl is the educational core for the regions, and the demand for training centers in this area is clearly highlighted. The campus will become a place for accumulation, storage, and exchange of knowledge and advanced technologies. It will graduate young scientists and attract various specialists to the city.
The chosen function is a continuation of an existing IT school in the neighboring building. I have been involved in the project for the past year, which I am now implementing.
The design area is located deep in the block relative to Pobedy Street, so the building was planted on the site relative to the passage.
The center structurally consists of two three-dimensional modules, between which a pedestrian connection is formed, along which there are entrances to both parts of the building.
A path of translucent luminous elements leads people through the building, culminating in an interactive art object consisting of monitor cubes with dynamically changing content.
The first section is designed for living, the second for studying.
Communication between the sections takes place via an above-ground passage.
On the 4th and 5th levels of the 2nd section of the building, according to the customer's technical specifications, an aboveground passage was designed to the neighboring building, which currently houses the IT School. This solution will allow students and teachers to stay in a warm perimeter when moving from one building to another in any weather.
To save space in conditions of dense urban development, the main part of the parking lot is hidden on the ground floor. The area around the building is used as a public space with an alley, recreation areas, an amphitheater under the overhang of the building. Sports fields, leisure areas and event areas are located on the roof of the building.
Shaping
The formation of the dual image of the building originates in the symbol of the split geode mineral. The two atriums are like precious crystals in the hard shell of the planning structure.
Externally, the building is conceived as a modern minimalistic volume with a reference to monumental modernism, monochrome exterior walls in conjunction with the plastic structure of the facade planes form a variety of chiaroscuro patterns. The austerity of the exterior decoration contrasts with the interior decor, emphasizing the image of a hidden crystal. The mirror finish of the entrance node is designed to indicate the vivid semantic content of the building's interior and entice you to visit the complex.
Fundamentality is a symbol of education. Methodical, static, academic in combination with dynamic, extraordinary allows you to create a high-quality education.
Planning solution of modules
The campus has a clear structure divided into several levels. On the first level, both sections contain public areas, exhibition spaces, rooms for educational activities with children and adults, lecture halls, a cinema hall, a commercial area and other services.
The division of the building into two parts allows you to create two functional groups of premises separate from each other - residential and educational.
Educational:
The educational part includes a number of open-plan classrooms, work clusters, robotics and virtual reality laboratories.
The project takes into account that modern students devote a lot of time to self-study, therefore, multifunctional spaces have been created in the building, which include areas for reading books, taking online courses (quiet areas), for recreation and informal communication.
There are 3 conference halls for conducting large lectures, presentations of new developments, and startups of students.
The library, located in the volume of the transition between buildings, serves as a link between residential and educational functions.
Habitable:
The hostel includes 75 rooms for 150 people. There are also apartment-type rooms on the campus for teachers to live in.
The floors have all the necessary related functions (toilets, showers), as well as recreation areas, a dining room, game rooms, coworking.
To increase the energy efficiency of the building, all roof surfaces are used as sports fields, recreation areas, outdoor areas for events. Plants and trees in tubs are used for landscaping.
On the underground floor under both sections there is a parking lot for 75 cars, including parking spaces for people with limited mobility.
The problem of this quarter is the lack of catering outlets, so the building houses a cafe on the first level from the main facade.
Foundations
Pile reinforced concrete grillage.
Columns
The columns are steel pipes with a diameter of 400 mm, filled with concrete. Such structures will not dissonate with the interior of the building, but will even add complexity to the space. The pitch of the columns varies in different areas of the building from 5 to 7 meters.
Overlaps
Flat reinforced concrete squirrel-cage ceilings with a thickness of 300 mm. The zones in the places of the atriums, the spans between the columns are reinforced with beams.
A distinctive feature of the educational section of the building is the placement of the frame ceilings. The difference of 2 meters between the floors allows you to use a ramp system instead of stairs. Ladders also cannot be completely abandoned due to their use as evacuation ladders.
Walls
Reinforced concrete walls of 200, 250 mm in the area of stairwell and elevator nodes.
The exterior walls are made of blocks with a thickness of 400 mm.
Coatings
The structural scheme of the building uses two types of roof construction:
1. The roof in use is made in the form of a reinforced concrete beam coating;
2. The roof of the conference hall on the 5th level is made of steel beams supported on the main columns of the building.
The roof uses flat round anti-aircraft lanterns and light guides with a base with an angle of inclination of 5° for effective self-cleaning of the surface.
Internal vertical communications are represented by staircases, ramps, and elevator nodes. The building has 5 staircases. The staircases and platforms are made of monolithic reinforced concrete and steel frame.
