Idea projektu

Key concept ideas: use textiles; reference the Steven Spielberg film and the testimonies of 1200 survivors; use new approaches and visuals; respect the historic character; preserve facades and brickwork as much as possible; use a significant quote from the Talmud; use installations or portraits of survivors; Oscar and Emilie Schindler; make improvements to the courtyard between the buildings.

Two options for landscaping concepts: the area has a rich and important history, so two approaches to the concept have been proposed. The first option has a core in the center of the courtyard with a small pond and a Star of David at the bottom as a place of memory, a wooden bridge in the shape of a ring with the famous phrase "Whoever Saves a life, saves the world entire" and the names of survivors around the composition. The second option has two cores of the composition - a small square with trees, as a place of memory, and a large area for performances, relaxation and watching videos on a projector.

Heritage Conservation Method: building 1 will be preserved and restored by restoration. The concept includes historical accuracy where possible. New materials must be different from historical ones so as not to create false value. On the brickwork of the facades there are drawings (portraits and scenes from the film). Building 1 has a portrait of Oskar Schindler to the right of the main entrance and a portrait of Emilie to the left of the main entrance. Building 2 has a vivid scene from a Steven Spielberg film on the end. But they can be reversible. In the building 2 separate parts of the building will be preserved through conservation and restoration, the masonry of the main facade will be replaced completely. The projector for displaying video is located on the main facade of building 1. The screen for display is fixed to thin metal slats. The canvas can be removed or replaced. Thin slats do not spoil the artistic and historical value.

Popis projektu

The project consists of a concept for the landscaping of the inner courtyard of No. 4 between enclosures Nos. 1,2,3 and 5. And also the project includes façade solutions for building 1 "the Museum of Survivors" and building 2 "the Low-Beer Textile Factory Museum".
The main option has a ring-shaped bridge. Its diameter is 17.5 meters on the outside and 13 meters on the inside. The height of the passage under the ring is 2.5 meters

Technické informace

The landscaping consists of a reinforced lawn, asphalt, rectangular paving slabs, two types of wooden flooring and a textured concrete surface with the names of survivors. Facades consist of preserved and local materials like brick, stone and stucco. Where local materials are scarce, new materials are used. There is a fabric stretched between buildings 1 and 2 that protects from sun and precipitation.
