Idea projektu

The "backside" of a building is often associated with qualities such as insignificance, the need for concealment, or serving as a reserve space. Continuing the act of concealment, we regard the exterior appearance of existing buildings as the front, while the interior is considered the back. The external front, as a historical relic, is preserved intact without imbuing it with additional meaning. In the internal back which serving as the site history unfolded, we use textiles as a medium to traverse and connect various historical sites, allowing the natural light filtering into the building to recreate the experiences of the Jewish people amidst the historical tumult.

Popis projektu

Gradually transitioning from oppression to openness, from darkness to brightness, from abstract to concrete, and from the past to the future. We incorporate cultural relics and artworks from that era, as well as survivors' artistic creations, into the “backside” of the building. Through the integration of projection and digital technology, this space is transformed into a museum dedicated to preserving and showcasing history, conveying emotions, and sharing the physical experiences of the Jewish people.

Technické informace

Using the soft and malleable properties of fabric, it is hung within the existing building space to create different experiential states by partitioning the interior space through a dry construction method.
