Idea projektu

The aim of the project was to develop a space-planning and facade solution for a trade and exhibition pavilion located in a park area on the territory of the Young Spectator Theater, St. Petersburg. The main purpose of the building is to hold exhibitions and organize public events.
The main idea of the project was a paper boat, as a symbol of childhood, sailing to the land of children's fairy tales and fantasies, as a symbol of lightness and weightlessness, saying "no" to gravity.

Popis projektu

The three-dimensional solution was based on the search for analogies of buildings of Soviet theaters, circuses, tectonic architecture, the study of folded structures, building engineering elements, as well as the materials used. Aesthetic understanding of structures and materials turns them into an architectural language. The partial transparency of the ground floor translates and at the same time isolates what is happening inside the pavilion, turning everything into silhouettes of light and shadow. The roof of the pavilion represents the iconic and dominant idea of the project, while maintaining its main function. The roof slopes turn into three-dimensional solutions of the building and play the role of geometry accents. The interaction between the volumes gives rise to the overall dynamics of the building. The space-planning solution of the first floor interacts with the environment. The ground floor is represented by a common area for visitors, which includes: lobby, exhibition space. Also on the ground floor there are office, technical and service rooms. The atrium unites the lobby of the first floor and the exhibition area. The atrium space is complemented by a connection to the terrace, which is located behind the pavilion. The lobby is located in the center of the main entrance of the facade, forming a single communication area with the main entrance. There is an exit from the lobby to the exhibition area. The reception is located in front of the main entrance and is visible from the entire lobby space. The traffic pattern in the exhibition area is organized in the form of a ring, this type of movement focuses on the exposition in the center of the hall. Thanks to the large windows, the pavilion space merges with the surrounding park, uniting man with art and nature. The diffused soft light that passes through the glass between the folded structures floods the entire ground floor space with uniform light.

Technické informace

The roof is made of folded surfaces, in the center of the building, due to their shape, they can be held without additional support. Galvanized iron metal sheets are used in the roof decoration. Fiberglass concrete panels are used for facade decoration.
