The child care center in the Rio Negro neighborhood aims to foster familial integration among young children by connecting them with local schools and educational institutions, enriching lives through caregiving consultations and classes. The project also includes social housing, supporting single mothers with childcare services, employment workshops, and communal spaces. Integrated with neighborhood residences via an ameba-shaped platform, it complements Rio Negro School and the cultural center, promoting safe, active, permeable, and social spaces to positively impact the entire community through innovative architecture.
The child care center in the Rio Negro neighborhood aims to establish familial integration among young children, connecting them with local schools and educational institutions. This initiative seeks to enrich children's lives and equip parents with caregiving knowledge through consultations and classes for infants and their caregivers.
Moreover, the project includes social housing, with a focus on supporting single mothers to address community needs. This integration emphasizes childcare services alongside workshops for employment opportunities, a communal dining area, and social spaces throughout the facility. The overall goal is to enhance the well-being of families in the area by providing comprehensive support and educational resources.
The design integrates the child care center with neighborhood residences, linking two blocks through an ameba-shaped platform that serves as a crucial vertical pathway across the entire project.
The project spans over 13,000 square meters of built area, focusing on vertical expansion and creating a permeable ground floor. The structure consists of concrete columns, with a transitional level designed to support the canopies of the extensive platform and ensure structural continuity. The facade is layered across the lower levels, incorporating glass and steel panels on the upper levels. A floating floor system is utilized on the platform to effectively manage water control.
