"The Greenfall" project emerged from the scarcity of greenery in its urban setting and the pervasive noise pollution. Our concept aimed to integrate seamlessly into the environment by enveloping the building's front with wooden brise soleils, reducing noise while evoking a cascading green waterfall from its rooftop. This innovative design not only addresses urban challenges but also symbolizes a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetic sensitivity in modern architecture.
Inspired by the sparse greenery of its locale, our project, "The Greenfall," takes root in addressing the environmental and acoustic challenges of urban living. Harmoniously blending with its surroundings, the building’s facade undergoes a transformative integration, mimicking a verdant cascade cascading from its green roof. Named for this naturalistic flow, "The Greenfall" symbolizes a fresh approach to urban architecture.
The concept revolves around enveloping the entire front of the building with wooden brise soleils, a solution crafted to dampen urban noise. This architectural feature not only reduces sound infiltration but also extends a welcoming, shaded retreat for residents. The integration of these elements reflects a blend of functionality and aesthetic appeal, ensuring that "The Greenfall" stands as an emblem of sustainable urban design.
Moreover, the building’s rooftop is transformed into a thriving oasis of vegetation, enhancing the area’s green footprint and contributing positively to local sustainability efforts. This holistic approach underscores our commitment to creating a space that not only meets but exceeds the expectations of modern urban living, setting a new standard in architectural sensitivity and environmental responsibility.
The design of this project unfolds on a flat terrain, structured with stories comprising basement, ground floor, and six upper floors (B+G+6).
Location: Ulpiana, Boulevard "Dëshmorët e Kombit"
GROUND FLOOR: Commercial premises organized with retail spaces. The clear height of this floor is 380 cm. Access points to the building, community areas, and wheelchair access are located here.
TYPICAL FLOOR: Clear height of 280 cm. Each story includes: 1 studio apartment, 2 three-bedroom apartments, 1 three-and-a-half-bedroom apartment, and 1 technical room. The next story comprises: 1 studio apartment, 1 three-bedroom apartment, 1 three-and-a-half-bedroom apartment, and a technical room.
BASEMENT: Clear height of 220 cm. Contains a designated number of storage rooms for each residential unit. Near the stairs are utility rooms for water pumps, technical rooms for heating, and collective maintenance rooms for apartments.
CONSTRUCTION: Columns are reinforced concrete with dimensions of 30x50 cm. The slab thickness is 20 cm. The foundation is a 90 cm thick slab. External walls are 30 cm, installation walls 20 cm, and partition walls 10 cm thick.
FACADE: The building is clad in light-colored terracotta tiles combined with wooden elements, punctuated by a greenery-penetrating gap that breaks the rhythm of the facade. Loggia's take the whole of the western and southern facades to provide privacy and noise protection for residents. Facade colors and materials are chosen for their durability against weather conditions.
ROOFTOP: Designed as a usable green roof to increase vegetation within our building. Access is made for the installation of elevator and staircase enclosures, serving as access points for rooftop maintenance.
On the plot, access is made for pedestrian access, ample greenery, and recreational spaces for residents' leisure time.
FOUNDATION: Designed as a slab foundation due to the building's weight and soil composition. The ground stabilization under the foundation is achieved with gravel fill with a thickness of 30 cm.
