Idea projektu

It is crucial to unite around common values and collaborate to support causes, advocate ideas and act together in today’s society. Creating a space where everyone can share their opinions, confront different points of view and enrich their knowledge would promote mutual understanding and contribute to social progress. With this in mind, the FIU Congress Hall has been designed to meet the communication and development needs of students. This building will be an iconic and aesthetic structure that will not only complement the existing campus, but also demonstrate the university’s commitment to academic excellence.

Popis projektu

The FIU congress hall is a large building of 16 meters high, built on an irregular ground and covering an area of 37 370 m². A large L-shaped atrium will connect the different parts of the building, with two small auditoriums on the ground floor each accommodating 400 students, and a large main auditorium accommodating more than 1,200 students. There will also be meeting rooms, conference rooms, two exhibition rooms with original staircases, and an administrative space. Each functional area will have its own entrance and elevators, including facilities for people with disabilities, to facilitate traffic, loading and emergency evacuations.
Outside the building, green spaces, traffic areas and parking lots are all arranged to create a flamboyant and altruistic atmosphere for students.

Technické informace

The construction of this building is made of a reinforced concrete frame to withstand lateral and horizontal loads. In the two secondary auditoriums, dividing walls and supporting posts will be used to support the adjacent loads of the large auditorium above. The roof will feature a 3D lattice structure due to the distance between the load-bearing walls.

The whole will be covered with a glass shell, allowing to illuminate the interior of the building and facilitating the orientation and the peripheral circulation inside the different exhibition spaces, the terrace, administrative spaces and auditoriums. These spaces will be interconnected by balconies, stairs and elevators, allowing students to move freely throughout the building.

Finally, the main facade adjacent to the entrance hall will be entirely glazed, followed by a double suspended facade consisting of steel bars inclined 45% eastward to maximize and regulate the entrance of light inside the building.
