"Sinangyasay" is a collection of words that summarize the overall idea of the project. "S" Sining (art), "i" Disensyo (design), "nang" Linang (cultivate), "ya" Yaman (treasure), and "say" Husay (excellence).
With a diverse cultural and artistic background encompassing traditions, artistic practices, and expressions in the Philippines, demand for art and design institutions has been driven by the growing recognition of the creative economy to uplift its cultural value, along with the opportunities arising from globalization and digitalization.
Conflicts in arts and design schools face concerns such as inadequate facilities catering to various practices of art and design education, a lack of exposure to these educational entities and marketing professions relating to the creative industry, and the current learning environment being unsuitable for creative students.
The study intends to achieve the following objectives:
1. To design a design institute that will focus on the spatial configuration of design, forms, and the relationship of the environment to the user to help them improve their design critical thinking, problem-solving capabilities, creativity, and productivity.
2, Develop innovative architectural solutions that solve identified gaps and meet the creative industry's future needs. This includes presenting adaptable spatial configurations, integrated technology infrastructure, sustainable design principles, and spaces that support collaborative and individualized learning experiences.
3. Develop comprehensive standards and recommendations for the design and construction of educational facilities in the creative industry. These recommendations should help architects, educators, and lawmakers improve the quality and relevance of future educational environments.
Architectural Concept:
Creativity Common: The architectural concept centers around the idea that learning and creativity are fostered not only in conventional classroom environments, but also in open and dynamic transitional spaces that allow for unforeseen interactions and collaborative activities.
Project Concepts:
1. Maximizing the potential of the "THIRD TEACHER": Learning environments foster a sense of place. So, the physical environment is never just a background for the curriculum. Instead, it is a part of the curriculum or a leisure activity. It is an environment with many learning opportunities built right into it. A balance of experiences encourages collaborative thinking. The idea is for the spaces to be adaptable, these indoor and outdoor settings adapt to users' changing needs and interests and foster a sense of exploration.
2. Creating Possibilities through Collaboration: Active participation fosters in users the conceptual understandings, creative thinking, and inquisitive skills necessary for continuous learning. Through modern collaborative interactions with the use of technologies, users can investigate and expand their own and others' thinking, as well as generate new learning.
Spatial Configuration of spaces
The fixed spaces, such as studios and classrooms, will provide controlled environments for lectures and focused work. In contrast, unfixed spaces such as flexible studios, collaboration zones, and outdoor areas will promote experimentation, interaction, and informal learning. This dual approach boosts students' creativity, critical thinking, and productivity by creating a dynamic and adaptive learning environment.
Furthermore, the institute serves as a platform to showcase Filipino talent globally, emphasizing excellence in design education rooted in local culture. Through this study, architecture becomes a conduit for advancing national cultural identity while preparing future Filipino creatives to excel globally.
The structural concept is rigid frame systems, which are made up of concrete horizontal beams and vertical columns joined by rigid connections. These structures are cast monolithically, which means that the beams and columns are formed in a single process to work together.
Sustainability Framework:
1. Passive sustainable design: Passive strategies, such as considering sun direction and climate when sitting and being mindful about window placement and operation, are utilized to effectively manage daylighting and natural ventilation and contribute significantly to the building's energy requirements.
2. Active Design: Collaborating with allied professionals such as mechanical and electrical engineers to implement high-efficiency electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other systems with low environmental footprints.
3. Renewable Energy Systems: Renewable energy systems, such as solar and wind energy, are also great options for some structures. These systems are frequently used with passive design principles.
4. Stormwater management: Bioswales are utilized as a replacement or supplement to gutters, storm sewers, and standard stormwater pipelines. While gutters and stormwater pipes serve only as conveyance systems, bioswales serve multiple functions. Bioswales can contain surplus water, filtering out dirt and pollutants before they reach waterways, while also helping to replenish groundwater and prevent flooding.
5. Architectural acoustics: managing how the soundwaves reverberate off its interior to enhance clarity, enhance sound where suitable, and minimize noise levels where necessary.
6. Native Landscape: Landscaping considerations can have a significant impact on any public building. Landscaping can also be used in conjunction with a passive energy approach. Solar heat gain within the structure can be decreased by growing trees that shade the roof and windows during the hottest part of the day.
7. Green Building Materials and Finishes: Making it a commitment to use steel, bricks, carbon neutral concrete, and low-emmisivity glass for windows, perforated mesh panels for sun shading facades, and low volatile paint that use ecologically responsible manufacturing processes or recycled materials.
8. Technology Integration: Creating a vibrant learning environment that leverages AI to amplify innovative learning experiences. This approach supports cutting-edge design education and prepares students to thrive in a future where technology and creativity intersect seamlessly. The fusion of technology, sustainability, and human-centered design principles will establish a center for excellence in design education.
Color Concept
The overall concept of the colors applied was inspired by the rich and vibrant culture of various Philippine festivals, as well as Filipinos' natural ability to be artists and designers.
Site Conceptualization
Radial-concentric design is everywhere, and it is a massive circular structure with intense development corridors radiating from the center. The key benefits of radial designs are that they establish a clear focal point, something that catches attention and allows it to expand outward in all directions, as well as a sense of visual harmony and balance.
Form Idea:
Maximum Publicity: Maximum Publicity is a spatial concept of courtyard mode. Arranging the building’s functional entities at the boundary of the site to achieve the maximum public area in the courtyard.
