Idea projektu

The task was to create a VW Group Car Centre, where Volkswagen, Škoda auto, Audi and Seat cars will be sold and serviced.
The area under consideration is located in the Brno Browfield in the area of the Černovická Terrace industrial zone, close to the rescue station for endangered birds and mammals. Furthermore, the site is surrounded by large industrial halls. The proposal is placed in the area in such a way that the planned roads are freely connected to the original ones and at the same time the building maintains the greatest possible distance from the rescue station.

Popis projektu

The aim for the design was to create an economical and simple design that would make the most of its space and function without obstacles or clashes. The simple form created by combining three rectangles, with three core functions, creates a long and narrow building that is easy to operate. The shape of the building changes slightly towards the intersection, the facade is shifted so that it is always parallel to the nearest road, thus creating an eye-catching corner which, like the curve of the road, is rounded. The building is also complemented by the different height levels of the individual parts based on the required height. This makes the central part of the building significantly lower in height, allowing access to the terrace on the roof.A prominent feature is the sawtooth skylights on the service roof, which add light to the interior and provide a full sloping area suitable for use by solar panels. The perimeter cladding is made of aluminium panels, while in the showroom the entire space is glazed, also shaded by aluminium slats which cover either the entire height of the building or the upper half. The aluminium, as a silvery metal, is partly symbolic of the purity and design of the new car. All three roofs are green in order to connect with the greenery in the surroundings, and sensitivity and environmental friendliness are also applied to the concept of roads and parking, which incorporates linear greenery, strips between parking spaces and a retention area to hold water.

Technické informace

The load-bearing system of the building is made of reinforced concrete columns on concrete footings, due to the nature of the subsoil, they are on drilled piles. The large span of 24 m in the entire service and showroom area is covered with steel trusses, in the warehouse and office area the ceilings are designed with SPIROLL panels made of prestressed concrete. A lightweight envelope of aluminium and glass panels is used as the building shell.
