Idea projektu

The goal of my diploma thesis was to develop an architectural study of a residential building on the topic of Modular parasitic architecture. The location of the study is the university sports area under the Lanfranconi bridge in Bratislava. The proposed building serves the purpose of student housing, which is in short supply in the city. The proposed facility brings a vision for modern and dignified student housing and life, as the current situation and condition of student housing facilities is becoming unbearable. The concept of modularity points to huge advantages in constructions of this type of use. The proposed object is a parasite on the Lanfranconi bridge and uses its engineering networks, as well as the structure for the purposes of a partially covered public and
sports space. The architectural study of the object brings a vision for attractive interior and exterior spaces, new possibilities for public life in the locality and an ecological architectural concept.

Key words: modularity, student housing, Lanfranconi bridge, parasite, shipping container

Popis projektu

ARCHITECTURAL SOLUTION

The proposed multi-functional residential building is modular, assembled from shipping containers. Shipping containers are stored in a line and on top of each other, around the perimeter of the treated area. The container modules meet the thermal insulation, noise and other requirements of the standard.

The proposal removed the football field. We replaced it with objects of student housing, equipment and services with a multifunctional ground floor, which, in addition to students, will also be used by passers-by along the pedestrian route. Currently,
the students of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts are scattered in the „student town“ of Mlynská Dolina and at ŠD Družba.
Accommodation capacities are insufficient. Architectural studies offer permanent as well as temporary solutions for rapid modular
construction of Student Housing, which will expand accommodation capacity.

The construction of the building is designed in such a way that the operation of the building can be adapted very easily and quickly. Pre-made space modules from shipping containers can be transported by ship and truck transport and subsequently inserted into the pre-prepared construction of the support system on the construction site, where they can be left permanently. In the event that the capacities or functions of the object change later, we can add or remove modules to the structure. In another case, remove completely and fill the structure with panels to create a standard living space.

Due to color and shape variability, the building can change in different ways and create a pleasant contrast in a monotonous environment. If, at the same time, this proposal from the same modules is repeated in another location, it can easily be distinguished thanks to the variability

Although we removed the currently existing football field, the function of sports did not disappear from the treated area. We replaced the football field with a more suitable sports area. There is currently an athletics track in the FTVŠ sports complex, which can be modernized and with the added value of a new football field, with the right parameters. There is also an area of basketball courts in the FTVŠ campus, in a devastated state (see photo documentation). Therefore, we propose to create basketball courts in the planned area, which are suitable for the location and parameters of the site, and their built-up area does not take up
the entire planned territory. The new function of the treated territory is thus significantly diversified

Technické informace

The object is placed on the base plate. In the case of a high-rise building, there are additionally deep foundations. The supporting structure for the 2nd floor consists of self-supporting shipping containers. From 2+ NP, the containers are additionally reinforced with a steel structure. In the case of a high-rise building, the main supporting element is a steel structure, which is supported with a reinforced concrete tube. Containers are inserted or stacked on top of each other in a steel structure. The cantilevered
part of the container is additionally fixed with a tie rod.The container structure is filled with thermal insulation, layers of waterproofing and vapor barrier, and the interior is covered with CLT boards
