The project began with the aim of transforming the area around the former Altındağ Municipality Building into a more interactive space for citizens. Upon closer examination of environmental data, it became evident that the area occupies a crucial intersection and serves as a pivotal point in connecting surrounding historical and cultural regions.
Despite challenges such as significant elevation differences and heavy vehicle traffic along the axis from Talatpaşa Boulevard to Koyunpazarı Street and Ankara Castle, the project aimed to create a pedestrian-friendly environment. To achieve this vision, bazaars and cafes were planned along one side of a ramp starting from the intersection of Talatpaşa Boulevard and Anafartalar Street. On the other side, workshops promoting production and art were situated. Additionally, a mosque was designed to be adjacent to the bazaar area, connected to a central square via a ramp for easy access, creating an internal courtyard.Further along the ramp, a central square was conceived where all these activities converge, serving as a communal gathering space for events and activities.
Below the highest point of the ramp, a theater hall was strategically placed to overlook this square and offer views of Ankara to the south. Continuing upwards, the ramp culminates at the highest elevation, where it directs citizens towards Koyunpazarı, providing a delightful endpoint to the circulation and vitality inspired by the nearby bazaars, Seljuk mosques, and the streets of Kale.
