Idea projektu

In line with the vision of Oman 2040 to enhance economic development and trade exchange with countries around the world, and to create a distinctive destination for travelers, the design project envisions a sustainable international airport with a future vision for a safe, sustainable, and comfortable environment for travelers. On a land area of over 30 million square meters, the project is located in Al Buraimi Governorate in Oman, which offers several facilities. By applying sustainability, energy conservation, and environmental protection systems in the architectural design of airports to create a sustainable building in harmony with nature, the sustainable international airport will be a model of environmentally conscious design.
In order to create a unique, modern, sustainable design, several concepts are combined. We used the Arabian falcon as a design inspiration in the concept, which is a bird that symbolizes beauty and strength. Create an airport design that is strong and unique based on the Arabian falcon. While achieving sustainability in the building, taking into consideration the environment surrounding the project.
The desert environment surrounding the project and the hot climate, which will be reflected in the project design through the curved lines in the facades, which give the impression of sand dunes. As we study the internal distribution of spaces, we will be able to see the green desert oases, how trees are distributed around them, and how human settlements emerge around the water source, a source of life. To create architectural harmony with nature and smooth wind movement, sand dunes can be used in the design of building roofs and airport units.

Popis projektu

The project was designed on an area of more than 30 million square meters and includes future facilities in what is known as Airport City, represented by an aviation zone, a free zone, a logistics zone, and a business zone. The airport building consists of 58 aircraft gates, more than 60 check-in and baggage delivery counters, in addition to 10 baggage claim belts, various internal areas such as the free zone, waiting and seating areas, special halls for VIPs and businessmen, a hotel with a view of the welcoming airport garden, green interior spaces and water bodies to create an environment A sustainable interior and connected to the external nature. The airport consists of a control tower with a height of 125 meters that provides comprehensive vision and control of the airport. It also consists of two parallel runways 4 kilometers long, aircraft maintenance facilities, aviation fuel stations, and civil defense and fire centers.

Technické informace

The airport was designed to reduce energy consumption and reduce environmental impact in order to provide a safe, comfortable, and sustainable travel environment. In addition to passive cooling, the design provides a solar panel farm covering about 3 million square meters that generates about 100 megawatts of electrical energy, covering about 20-30% of Amman's energy consumption, rainwater harvesting systems, water recycling stations, and some other systems that enhance Amman's vision for sustainable transformation. Lighting with a double-skin roof and glass facades, utilizing natural light. Using a smart, low-energy air conditioning system, as well as the presence of green interior spaces and water bodies that keep the interior spaces cool, create a connection with nature, enhance health, and increase the level of thermal comfort of the interior spaces. In addition, facades must be designed so that solar radiation is reduced and an indoor environment is comfortable. Also, the airport offers multiple amenities and internal facilities to make it a global tourist destination with interactive internal spaces to encourage active transportation. In addition to a flexible structural structure that allows us to easily form the roof of the airport, which is trusses structure system, in addition to another system, which is vierendeel structure system which allows us to design a large open spaces with great spans.
