Idea projektu

As part of our design course this semester, our team was tasked with creating a multi-functional terminal. The key challenge was to integrate a curved roof, structure, and walls into a cohesive whole. Our solution? A grid-based system where strategic voids in the grid create a dynamic, unified space.
By strategically removing specific sections of the grid, we achieve fluidity and connection between different areas. This eliminates rigid boundaries and fosters a seamless user experience.

Popis projektu

Due to the fact that Azadi Tower is one of the most important landmarks of Iran and Tehran. We chose to help lesson the traffic congestion in this city node with a well-designed Terminal Complex which enables people to have easy access to this magnificent landmark.

Technické informace

Considering a cell of 1*1*1 to be the very base of a network of Grids, we decided to design a building of Grids. Each part of the building is emptied from the network of Grids due to how much area and height each of them need. That's why we behold difference in the height and amount of Grids in various places of the building. Landscape design however, follows the reverse though; Instead of emptying the needed space from the Grids, each object, including the seats and pine yards.
Considering the fact that such a big building needs a structure that can tolerate the weight of our concrete slab roof and should be able to us have required intercolumniation, we came to the conclusion that Space Frame and Truss-like structures are most suitable. These Grids can also act as our specialized Truss-like structure.
