Idea projektu

Our modern world is exhibiting changing conditions and dynamic innovations. An iconic and inspirational built form is a balance of creativity, innovation, and practicality, as well as an understanding of the context and the needs of the people who will use the building. The study of the project aims in creating flexible spaces and flexible programs that are adaptable and spontaneous. The fluidity of architecture also enhances circulation and creates an interrelationship of the building to the city. The study aims to create flexible spaces for cruise terminal with the help of Computational Tools. It allows to create and simulate different design options quickly and efficiently. With computational design tools, I can test and explore different design configurations and layouts and analyse the performance of each option in terms of space utilization, circulation, and environmental factors.

Popis projektu

Given this, the Ministry of Shipping & Ports has proposed The Cruise Terminal in the scenic port of Goa. With its strategic location and proximity to the international waterways, it has the potential to become the most preferred cruising destination globally. The Port Trust of Mormugao has thus begun planning a project to build and develop a new International Cruise Terminal and public plaza to meet the increasing volume of foreign visitors.
The project aims to comply with the design requirements which are according to international standards and design a structure with functionality, iconicity, accessibility, and sustainability as a single entity. Also, Project aims to have facilities for the Ferry terminal and supporting spaces for both Terminals there will be facilities for Ancillary spaces. Since the Site is not having any para-transit facilities within the range of 6 kilometres, it also aims to comply with the project requirement of having Paratransit facilities for Buses and taxis.
An organic building form is a design approach that creates visually striking and memorable buildings that stand out from their surroundings. These unique and aesthetically pleasing buildings can become iconic landmarks that inspire people and evoke emotions. Blended columns can be aesthetically efficient for organic buildings by providing a customizable and visually interesting solution that integrates with the natural surroundings and serves as a form of artistic expression. A central approach in the site can improve accessibility, efficient use of space, design cohesiveness, crowd control, and visitor experience. Good ground manipulation at a cruise terminal for paratransit facilities prioritize accessibility, safety, and ease of movement for passengers. To make each part operate individually, and innovatively support the structure by separate base points. To embed and melt the project within the context by considering all possible articulated relationships such as topography and landscape stretching them to go seamlessly with the site landscape.

Allowable Margin: 9m

The terminal building with check-in counters, immigration and customs facilities, waiting lounges, retail shops, and food and beverage outlets.
A car parking with a capacity for 300 cars and bus bays for parking and loading/unloading. An approach road and landscaped area for pedestrian access to the terminal. The berth for cruise ships with a length of 300 meters and width of 40 meters, capable of accommodating ships with up to 2000 passengers. A passenger boarding bridge and gangway for safe and convenient embarkation and disembarkation. A security fence around the terminal perimeter to control access and enhance safety and security.

The design approach involves how everything is in a state of flux and becomes more and more ephemeral, which will pass on a glorious future to the next generations where the probable hurdles one might face in creating such a design. No such example with a similar concept is built in the Indian context and considering its hi-tech process and construction techniques it involves more complexity. Digital culture is an ever-present influential phenomenon at various levels. In this era of modernizing, exploring complex digital software to support and explain such forms was a greater challenge personally. Hence understanding the material's mending and blending properties was a major concern.
