Idea projektu

The proposal is based on the students' chosen location according to what we perceive as problematic in the localities known to us. My choice is the transitional border between the heritage-protected profile and the growing urban district west of Prague. The building is intended to serve mainly as a self-service bar for local residents, which can also serve educational purposes.

Popis projektu

The selected location is located in the ever-growing urban district west of the capital city of Prague, Reporyje. For them, an important cultural element is the Repora open-air museum, which shows the life of a small town in the Middle Ages. Nearby we find the valuable nature reserve Prokopske udoli in the east and the listed Dalejsky profil in the south. An educational trail leads through it and ends at the heart of the city, its stone square.

Its front height differences are characteristic of the area. These create a relatively undulating terrain through which the Dalejsky stream meanders. The territory is rather elongated and any construction of a larger scale would disturb its delicate character. The inspiration here is the open-air museum and its non-linear placement of smaller buildings with different types of gable and tent roofs. The goal was to create a graceful transition between modern architecture and the preservation of the spirit of the medieval city, both in terms of shape and material.

The largest object uses the diversity of the terrain in the form of a bridge with a wooden stake and a cor-ten steel tunnel between the access road and the bed of the scene, which already lies on the plain along the stream. Due to the interest in living in this part of the city, the space should represent an ideal destination for weekend walks for families with children, who would find their own in the form of a smaller playground.

Technické informace

The object is created with a light steel structure to endure fire outbreak which happened in open-air museum Repora not long time ago. As a facade, the mass is covered in natural colours of the COR-TEN material Other playful elements in the playground are made with durable acacia wood to connect to the surrundings.
