Idea projektu

The main idea of the project was to create a safe place for stroke survivors.

Popis projektu

The Stroke Rehabilitation Center project was located in Pozezdrze, Poland. The building was sited next to the Krzywa Kuta lake, which is surrounded by large green areas. Direct contact with the blue-green infrastructure will positively influence the users of the center and encourage them to be active and recover on a daily basis. The project is located away from large cities, allowing patients to stay at the Center without stress.

The project's premise is based on creating a space that is safe and accessible to patients, doctors and nurses, who form a community of sorts. It was the community that inspired the shape of the building based on a circle. Two main lanes of communication have been designated, one of which is brought to the surface of the water. This allows direct contact with the surrounding nature.

Technické informace

The building sits on the shore slope of a lake whose water level changes during the year, for which reason it has been raised on wooden piles above the level of the water surface.

Wood is also used in the construction of the structure of the building, the beams support the ceilings, above which there are glass panes to illuminate the apartments and common areas, as well as the corridors. The building's facade is mostly glass curtain walls, so residents inside feel a direct connection to nature. The buildings themselves are made of prefabricated elements that will be directly brought to the site and assembled on site.
