Idea projektu

Yemen Antiquities Museum Project The project is a response to a distress call launched by Yemeni antiquities from time to time as a result of the loss, destruction, looting and theft they witness, and the neglect and marginalization suffered by some archaeological sites that are still semi-raw that may lead to the destruction of this wealth

Project Significance

The establishment of a museum project that specializes in collecting and preserving antiquities and presenting them to the world in an honorable manner befitting the civilization and ancient history of Yemen has become an inevitable necessity imposed by the situation in which Yemeni antiquities are witnessing from loss and neglect
Design idea

THE IDEA OF DESIGNING THE PROJECT STEMS FROM THE REALITY OF YEMENI ANTIQUITIES AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES THAT ARE STILL SEMI-RAW AND IN NEED OF EXCAVATION TO SHOW YEMENI HISTORY IN ITS TRUE FORM

1 THE SAND AND PARTIALLY BURIED AREAS EXPRESS THE TRACES OF CIVILIZATIONS THAT AROSE IN THE DESERT AREAS AND ARE STILL BURIED IN THE DESERT

2-THE INNER CUBES EXPRESS THE TRACES OF MOUNTAIN CIVILIZATIONS THAT APPEAR EVIDENT IN THE FORTS, CASTLES AND VILLAGES ON THE SLOPES OF THE MOUNTAINS

3-THE GENERAL COMPOSITION OF THE PROJECT CAME TO EXPRESS THE LOCATION OF EXCAVATIONS, ONLY A SMALL PART OF IT WAS REVEALED, INDICATING THAT MOST OF THE YEMENI ANTIQUITIES ARE STILL BURIED UNDERGROUND AND NEED TO BE EXCAVATED

Museum architectural program:

The program reflects the design of the Museum of Antiquities of Yemen, the new concept of designing antiques, whose role is not only limited to displaying antiquities, but extends this role to contribute to the delivery of culture to visitors and to provide researchers and those interested with information and research methods provided by the museum library and the research and studies section in addition to the Children's Museum and lecture halls And the conference center in addition to the restaurants, which all open to an open space to the open air, external exhibitions and cultural events, which is an important spatial element in shaping the general composition of the building. The old ones that provide common spaces between the buildings contribute to strengthening the bonds between the members of the community (the edifice) All these functions are located on the ground floor to transform the museum into a complex where visitors can spend the entire day inside the museum as a cultural entertainment

A part of the building has also been allocated for the use of modern virtual display methods for antiquities (holograms) to display what has been lost or transferred to other museums. Make a quick tour or access a specific showroom

The project program was prepared to receive 2,000 visitors per day. The total built-up area is 30,000 square meters, about 38% of the total area of the site, which is 80,000 square meters.

Technické informace

The reinforced concrete system is used in the spaces below ground level and in the main movement elements to represent concrete cores, while the steel system installed in the floors above the ground level is preferred to enable spacious spaces with fewer columns. Shell covering was also used in the part which gives the shape of sand burying part of the building.
