Idea projektu

The Pixellage exists as a “spatial framework” for radical future living concepts aimed at young professionals and independent creatives seeking to live and work within cities in which housing demand far outstrips supply. An issue which is particularly pertinent within a country that is currently undergoing urban expansion on an unprecedented scale.

With much optimism we anticipate the public transport would be improved and city dwellers in the future will be less dependent on private cars as commuting means, thus car parks can opt for micro-housing.

Adopting the idea of constant change and easily adaptable, the modules are designed for fast and easy assembly. Customization of modules allow inhabitants to involved and become the designer of the building, play a part in shaping the image of the city

The modules integrate spaces to live, work and play for an inspiring collaborative life. The Pivellage becomes more than just a residential building - given its open and flexible character it invites the public in and becomes an urban micro neighborhood that beats at the heart of the city.

Popis projektu

The project explores the idea of shared living, where the ground floor houses flexible semi-public spaces, which can be transformed into a meetup space or micro business space to be rent to the street vendors.

This openness allows the communal living experience- “kongsi” spirit to take place, turning buildings into active contributors for improvement of urban life.

The project is inspired by the digital concept of pixels. While a pixel is the smallest independent sample of an image with its own RBG or CMYK colour information, it is the combination of numerous pixels what results in any given digital image.

This idea is transferred to the spatial organization of this project, each housing module has its own characteristic, customized by the users, resulting in a very eye-catching and playful image that is constantly changing. The vibrant colour also complements the surrounding colourful traditional buildings.

Technické informace

The permeablility and porosity of the building breaks the boundary of buildings, making the buildings connected seamlessly and creating healthy life space that directly embraces the nature. Green plant is not only used for sightseeing but also for adjusting the humidity and oxygen proportion, in hope that people can feel released and enjoy a healthy and happy life in such an environment.

The individuality of modular units to accommodate different inhabitants shapes the diversity of the building, and enhances the vibrance of the site, making it a new beacon of the city.
