Idea projektu

THE CONCEPT
After getting hit by one of the biggest non-nuclear explosions in history, Beirut being the capital and getting its port harbor destroyed, astronomical disasters happened; lives were lost and the economy went down the drain.
Seeing as when a person wakes up from a coma, their brain sends a signal to their finger or any other limb so that the people around him recognize that he is awake, and most of the time its like being reborn. Seeing this we used the nervous system as our concept for the project.
The nervous system is split into two parts; the central nervous system, it consists from the brain and the spinal chord which work as an integrated unit.
The brain being the main terminals; containers, dry and liquid bulk.
The main road acting like the spinal chord connecting every part of the port together. The second part is the peripheral nervous system and that is the free zone with all its components connected together via the spinal chord working together to help revive Beirut’s economy. Which is why most of the projects in the free zone are economically based “ business center, expo, mall”, and we’re also adding a first responding unit with a fire station and a medical center to decrease the response time. This project is considered as the rebirth of the Beirut port.

Technické informace

Should the reconstruction of Beirut port reflect of our sad reality of corruption? Or should it reflect our future aspirations for a productive, sustainable and smart port?
After an intense urban study The three main components of my project will be:
- A multidisciplinary green zone that creates a beautiful and reduces the humidity.
- A technical spine that links the functions of the port.
- An intelligent infrastructure or "Smart grid” that connects the whole port which makes it more efficient and more mechanical.
* The first principle, an efficient port. Speed, quality, safety and convenience are the main characteristics of the newport. With the help of new warehouses and the organization of containers, the work of the cargo port will reach a new level.
* The second principle, an important component of the new port will be places for recreation. A city park, a boulevard, a promenade, waiting areas and internal squares - all this will help to connect the port, make it useful not only for passengers, but also for the citizens.
* The third principle, promising transport. A unified transport system, connectivity of land, transport hubs will help not only the port, but also the whole city. Modern terminals for domestic and international ports will give a push in the direction of the business environment.
* The fourth principle, the future of Beirut port is a new center of life. To create an active space, places of new business life will be created. The business cluster will become the center of commercial transformations, it will give the opportunity of using the territory to a larger number of residents. And the influx of users will increase the relevance of transformations.
* The fifth principle, the spirit of the place. The tragedy of Beirut port affected the lives of everyone in this city. The memory of this will remain in the architecture and landscaping as a reminder that such tragedies happen and to honor those who lost their lives and their loved ones.
Taking into account these principles and zoning, new buildings were designed, such as the international and domestic terminals of the port, the buildings of the port administration, a business complex, a storage base and warehouse buildings. All these design solutions taken together should make this place a point of attraction.
