Renovation and Vertical Extension of an Industrial Building

The idea of ​​the project is born from the desire to preserve the existing constructions and the need to express the architects through new ecological systems.

The building is located in a small town in Germany, more precisely Wuppertal.The extension of the building is aligned with the existing ground floor, covered with vertical and horizontal wooden ensuring an optimal light throughout the day. On the south façade, the reflections are arranged horizontally effectively shading the surface of the building, and on the west façade the reflections are arranged vertically. These reflections have a system that allows them to be retracted if more light is desired. The openings of the new floors keep the register of the building, using such high glazing for a high light input and for a better ventilation of the spaces.
From a visual point of view, we chose the typology of the wooden façade that offers the feeling of warmth, and at the same time gives a welcoming look to the building. These two materials, brick and wood, together create a sense of stability.

Technické informace

The new intervention brings with it new systems such as rainwater collection and reuse, photovoltaic panels, new door systems with ventilation, heat pump.
