A Journey through time is a proposal for the last Nuclear test bomb in Montebello Islands, Australia. This project uses the clock face as the primary axes, whereby the nuclear bomb test is in the center. It focuses on the idea of showing and limiting time through the usage of materials, distances, and programs. Furthermore, this project aims to bring awareness to the effects of the nuclear bomb on the environment by creating a timeline that corresponds to the existing allowed allocated time that is regulated for visitors to be at the nuclear site.

The journey starts when you arrive at the site by boat, you move through the ramp to the information center with exhibition space. This program is for informing visitors about the state of the site before the nuclear test and to bring awareness.

Next, you move to the observatory. For this program, we raised the structure concrete planes from the ground up to organize the spaces. They are also used to frame views of the land, native birds and to make people aware of their journey through time by the tunnel effect.

After that, we reach the projecting space where the center monument projects into a wall a documentary about the site after the nuclear test and its effect on the land.

By this time, the sky gets dimmers and we move on through the pathways. The pathways are used as a procession space where on the side where it looks towards the land, there is greenery as a way to represent the land before the nuclear test. The other side, it's surrounded by a railing that represents hours and seconds. Each wooden strand represents a meter so people can be aware of distances and time, which also reflects the effect of nuclear bombs.

By the time we arrive at the final destination, which is the meditation space, it is sunset time.

After that, we take the journey back, and by that time, it's dark outside. In the journey back, you pass through different experiences than the one you first started with.

Technické informace

This project is designed in a way to create a journey that has 3 timed phases: The first part is the arrival point at 4 PM, where it is still bright outside where you process from the outwards to inwards of the project. The second phase is when you reach the destination in the center of the project at sunset. The last phase is the journey back from moving from the center to the land back again.
