Idea projektu

Norway is considered one of the most beautiful countries in the world due to its harsh nature with glaciers, high mountains, deep fjords, rocky islands, and waterfalls emitting noble and wild energy.

The aim of the project is to design a space for meditation and admiring the landscape. Space where nature plays a key role.

Thanks to its privileged location in Geirangerfjord, oposite the Seven Sisters waterfall, this proposed area will become very vissited by visitors of this natural attraction.

Popis projektu

I chose for my project Skageflå mountain farm because it is the end point of the most beautiful hike in Geirangerfjord and this place deserve something unique and iconic. I place here a hollow triangular prism. My proposal consist of two main functions – the viewpoint of the Seven Sisters waterfall and the shelter for hikers. These two parts of the tunnel are separated by the entrance opening. The shelter is equipped with wooden benches. Visitors can take a rest and look through the tunnel which offers the spectacular view. The inner surface is made of polished stainless steel and mirrors the view. The tunnel acts as a kaleidoscope. At the end of the tunnel people can look over the edge and feel the majestic height of the fjord.

Technické informace

The structure of the shelter is partially embedded in the ground, therefore it is made of reinforced concrete. The observing part of the tunnel is a steel truss beam for weight reduction and easier construction. It is anchored in the bedrock by micropiles. Both parts are rigidly connected. The outer surface is made of weathering steel that resists weather conditions and needs no painting.
