Kobylí, a village with a long history. A history of the ages and a history of a magical drink that enchanted the ancient Greeks and Romans... a history of wine. The search for a non-invasive way of bringing modern objects and thinking into an area with its own rural theme and unmistakable atmosphere...

The basic idea behind the whole project was to design a visually introverted low-rise building set on a rugged terrain. The desire not to "stand out too much" resonated with me, especially when I looked from the vantage point of the church cemetery into the small valley, where the building plot is located almost in the very centre of the extended green and not yet built-up "valley". The surrounding greenery was one of the reasons why from the very beginning I thought that the roof of the building would be flat and green, although this concept is not very typical for the surrounding original buildings. For some time I fought an internal battle for an intense representation of vegetation on the roof plane, but in the end only its extensive form prevailed to maintain the purity of the ubiquitous horizontal lines used.

The size of the plot itself was a challenge right from the start. Leaving aside the initial fear of an uninvited "intruder," it was very important for me to maintain the original concept of a low-rise, smaller building, but with the representation of the rather extensive input functional requirements - winery, sales, accommodation, seating, recreation, film screening, etc. This initially appeared to be a minor problem. The solution, therefore, turned out to be to design a more intimate winery with a family feel and comparable in size to the surrounding facilities, which are largely located in the basement of the building. A small café/wine bar, accommodation in double rooms with private sanitary facilities or an outdoor partially covered atrium with a terrace and screening facilities are proposed.

The concept of the building was created by dividing the block irregularly into three parts, with the mass of the middle one fully removed to allow for an internal open atrium/ courtyard. Following this division, the design further relies on the functional division of a small winery with the possibility of refreshment in the communication through the outdoor space with an associated accommodation function.

Last but not least, the creation of view and sight lines was important to the design, along with allowing for views to the exterior and the blending of outdoor and indoor spaces, creating an interesting dialogue. This is created precisely by the stepping of the prisms apart and their continuity with the garden in a close-ended game of opening and closing to the surrounding events and the world around.

Obec Kobylí, obec s dlouhodobou historií. Historií věků i historií magického nápoje, jež okouzlil už starověké Řeky a Římany... historií vinařskou. Hledání neinvazivní cesty vstoupení moderního objektu a myšlení do oblasti s vlastní venkovskou tématikou a nezaměnitelnou atmosférou...

Základní myšlenkou celého projektu bylo navržení vizuálně introvertnějšího nízkopodlažního objektu zasazeného na členitém terénu. Snaha o „přílišné nevyčuhování“ se u mne ozvala zejména při shlédnutí z místa vyhlídky u kostelního hřbitova do malého údolíčka, kde se téměř v samém středu rozvleklého zeleného a zatím nepříliš zastavěného „dolíčku“ nachází stavební parcela. Okolní zeleň byla jedním z důvodů proč jsem od samého začátku uvažovala, že střecha objektu bude plochá a ozeleněná, ač toto pojetí není pro okolní původní zástavbu příliš typické. Jistou dobu jsem sváděla vnitřní boj o intenzivní zastoupení rostlinstva na střešní rovině, nakonec zvítězila jen její extenzivní forma pro zachování čistoty všudypřítomných použitých horizontálních linií.

Samotná rozměrově nevelká parcela byla hned od začátku výzvou. Opomenu-li prvotní strach z nezvaného „vetřelce,“ bylo pro mne velmi důležité právě udržení původního konceptu nízkopodlažního menšího objektu, ovšem se zachováním zastoupení poměrně rozsáhlých vstupních funkčních požadavků – vinařství, odbyt, ubytování, posezení, rekreace, promítání filmů atd. To se zprvu jevilo jako drobný problém. Řešením se proto nakonec ukázalo v navržení komornějšího vinařství s rodinným nádechem a rozměrově přirovnatelným okolním zázemím, které se z velké části nachází v suterénu objektu. Je navržena malá kavárna/vinárna, ubytování ve dvou-lůžkových pokojích s vlastním hygienickým zázemím nebo venkovní částečně zastřešené atrium s terasou a možností promítání.

Koncept objektu vznikl nepravidelným rozdělením kvádru na tři části, přičemž hmota té prostřední byla plně odebrána pro možnost vzniku vnitřního otevřeného atria/dvora. Návrh se v návaznosti na toto členění dále opírá o funkční dělení malého vinařství s možností občerstvení v komunikaci přes venkovní prostranství s přidruženou funkcí ubytování.

V neposlední řadě bylo pro návrh důležité vytvoření pohledových a průhledových os spolu s umožněním výhledů do exteriéru a prolínání venkovních a vnitřních prostorů, čímž vzniká zajímavý dialog. Ten je tvořen právě odskočením hranolů od sebe a jejich návaznost na zahradu v těsném závěsu hry otevření a uzavření vůči okolnímu dění a světu okolo.
